Reasonable Medical and Like Services

WorkSafe can pay the reasonable costs of medical and like services for the management of a work-related injury or illness in accordance with section 99 of the Accident Compensation Act 1985 (the Act).

These policies have been developed in line with the Act and on the basis of the best available clinical evidence and recognised clinical practice.

The purpose of these policies is to provide healthcare professionals and workers with a guide as to how WorkSafe will apply the Act when making decisions on whether to pay the costs of certain types of medical and like services. As new policies regarding medical and like services are developed, they will be made available on this section of the website.

Information for healthcare professionals relating to other, more general medical and like expenses such as physiotherapy, dental, attendant care services, and remedial massage can be accessed in the healthcare providers section of the website.
