Occupational Therapists Assessment
The Victorian WorkCover Authority has commenced an initiative to enhance claimant independence in household and gardening tasks. As part of this initiative a Household Help (OT) Assessment has been developed. OTs are now required to use the Household Help (OT) Assessment for new referral requests when completing a Home Help and/or Gardening assessment and must undergo training prior to undertaking such assessments.

How can OTs access this training?
There are two methods by which OTs can access and complete training in the new Assessment Tool and Report. Each method and the prerequisites for training are listed below.
- Training sessions held by the Victorian WorkCover Authority: Please note there are no training sessions currently scheduled. Information regarding future training will be advertised here.
- On Line training: OTs may choose to read through the relevant material available on the website and confirm they have completed on line training by emailing Rehabilitation_Services@workcover.vic.gov.au. The relevant documents OTs must read and utilise when completing Household Help (OT) assessment include the documents in the following sections.
Please note: OTs must be registered with the Victorian WorkCover Authority. The Victorian WorkCover Authority will keep a record of OTs that have completed training and distribute this information to authorised agents.
Is there any preparation material for the training?
Reading the material is a precursor for all forms of training. In particular, the training offered by the Victorian WorkCover Authority will be of most benefit if this material has been read by participants. The following documents should be read as a precursor to your upcoming training sessions:
I have completed the training, how do I start using the material?
If you have completed online training, remember to email rehabilitation_services@workcover.vic.gov.au to confirm completion of the training. Your name will be updated on a list that is distributed to agents to inform them of OTs that have been trained in the new material.
The Report formats below are available to use when completing your Household Help (OT) report. Two versions of the final Report are available for download:
- *.dot version suitable for Microsoft Word 97 and later users. Save this form to your hard disk and double click it to create a new form.
- *.rtf version suitable for users with other software. Save this form to your hard disk, open the file and use "Save As" to create a new form.
